Cleaning Your Diamond Rings and Fine Jewellery

Luxura Diamond Engagement Rings and Fine Jewellery are heirloom quality peices designed to withstand the test of time. Proper care will ensure your jewellery is enjoyed for generations.

Diamonds attract oil and grease, which change the optical properties and cause the stone to refract less light.

Regular cleaning can keep your engagement ring and fine jewellery looking like new.

TO CLEAN YOUR DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING AT HOME:

  1. Place a few small drops of original Mr. Clean cleaner in a cup or bowl of warm water (4 parts water to 1 part cleaning solution). You may also use plain ammonia or specially formulated jewelry cleaner.

  2. Soak your ring, earrings, pendant or piece of fine jewellery for 1 minute.

  3. With a soft bristled toothbrush gently scrub the diamond, taking care to remove any dirt or debris that have accumulated around the prongs.

  4. Over a sink with a closed drain, thoroughly rinse your jewellery with warm water.

  5. Pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

FOR A PROFESSIONAL CLEAN:

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING LOOKING LIKE NEW:

  • Think of your ring like a beautiful silk shirt; wear it, love it, but take care in it

  • Remove your ring before golfing, especially if you wear a golf glove; the torque created between the material of the glove and the stones can damage your setting

  • Remove your ring to put on lotion or moisturizer (just make sure you put it in a safe spot)

  • Remove your ring if making bread, meatballs, etc. Dough and other foods can dry and be very difficult to remove

Please note: Please do not use toothpaste, baking soda, or any solution containing bleach to clean you ring! These can etch or damage the gold or precious metals and cause permanent damage.

Only use ultrasonic machines designed for jewellery. Ultrasonic cleaners for surgical instruments can vibrate at a level unsafe for gemstones.

If your engagement ring contains precious gemstones, including emeralds, opals, and pearls, it will require special care.

A soft piece of cloth dipped in a solution of lukewarm water mixed with a small amount of mild detergent can be used to gently wipe the gemstone(s) clean.
