Luxura Couples - A Nipika Wedding
Last weekend we had the pleasure of going completely off-the-grid for our clients' and good friends' wedding in beautiful British Columbia.
We spent four fun-filled days at Nipika, an eco-resort nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The resort features nine rustic cabins encircling a grassy meadow complete with grazing horses.
We stayed onsite in our camper, which was purchased over a year ago with big plans for a summer of outdoor adventures. A new baby, a flood, and multiple weddings meant the camper had only been out once, so we were excited to finally put it to good use.
Surrounded by over 100 kilometres of hiking trails, Nipika was the perfect location for an outdoor wedding. The ceremony took place on the banks of the icy blue Kootenay River. The reception, catered with locally-sourced ingredients, took place in a gorgeously decorated tent next to the barn, where dancing and other shenanigans ensued.
All of the vendors executed their roles flawlessly, which is not easy to do in the middle of the mountains, the only access being a logging road, and the only power being solar.
The wedding was chock full of personalized details, including Kicking Horse Coffee favours, custom flashlights engraved with the couple's names and wedding date, moustache mason jars, and a handmade barnboard bar tapped into kegs of Cascadian Ale, Wild Rose Velvet Fog, and Phillips Blue Buck beer.
Our favourite part of the wedding was the speeches, which were the perfect mix of heartfelt and funny.
The groom had come to us two years ago with a few engagement ring designs in mind. We narrowed it down to a wide, white gold custom band cradling a radiant diamond, accented by channel set round brilliant diamonds.
There was a debate of whether to feature coloured diamonds or stones within the engagement ring, but it was decided that the colour would be saved for the wedding band, which is designed to match the engagement ring, and features natural, untreated black diamonds channel set in white gold.
The groom chose a handsome and unique titanium wedding band with wood inlay that suits him perfectly.
